Question of the Day

I totally forgot how icky strep throat makes you feel. I can barely swallow, I feel like a truck has run over me so I can barely get up, and I've had a fever. I am hoping the antibiotics kick in soon, as my to-do list just keeps on getting longer.

My question is - why is it that I feel GUILTY about staying in bed when I get sick? I wonder if it's a "mom" thing - that we are programmed to "keep on ticking", even when ill.

This is going to be such a man answer.
Val, your wired that way. You can't help it.

I think it is something to do with wiring, although moms definitely miss more responsibilities.

Val, you poor thing! (Secretly though, aren't you glad you can still type even when you can't talk?)

Yes, it's a mom thing. When I get sick, I lay in bed and feel nothing but misery...but that's cause I got no kids! It's all good to me. Rest is rest...sick or not.

I hope you feel better soon. Stop feeling guilty! You're human. You get sick. :-)

Yep it's a mom thing. I feel like the house is going to cave in. But it won't so relax. It also shows you're a GOOD mom. It's natural. Feel better.

Dear all: Yup, I agree - I am "wired" that way - it's a mom thing. I am feeling a bit better everyday - but boy, it's been a long time since I've felt this bad! Thanks for your comments and prayers. . . Val

"...although moms definitely miss more responsibilities."

I will risk the Estro-Wrath® by saying, different responsibilities, not necessarily more.

I always feel that way when i am sick, like not matter what, I should be doing something around the house. I hope you feel better soon!
